OWENDALE – Windover Resort Campground for Women reaches a milestone this weekend as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Festivities at the lesbian resort July 14-16 will include a bar-be-cue, ice cream and cake, said Judy Ray, advertising and marketing director for Windover.
Campers visiting Windover this summer will notice numerous renovations, including a new swimming pool. Other additions include a refurbished Web site and computer registration.
The campground, which is open six months of the year, has 111 sites – 75 of which are seasonal sites.
"When the camping grounds open in April and the women go through the gates, there's a sense of peace," said Ray, who has worked at Windover for eight years. "For so many people, it's coming home."
