Dirty dogs to get clean and clipped for WAGS

FERNDALE – Dirty dogs can lend a paw – or all four – to help their four-legged friends this Saturday. On that day grimy, scruffy canines will enter Little Friends of Ferndale Veterinarians only to leave freshly scrubbed and clipped in a benefit for WAGS.
Wonderful Animals Giving Support, or WAGS, is a Ferndale-based program dedicated to keeping low-income people living with HIV/AIDS and their companion animals together. WAGS is a program of the Midwest AIDS Prevention Project.
Charitable pooches that come to the bathing benefit will also be rewarded for their philanthropy. Doggy Deli, a popular puppy bakery, will be on hand with treats that owners can purchase for their pets. Proceeds from treat sales will also benefit WAGS.
The 12:30-4:30 p.m. event on Aug. 5 is sponsored by Little Friends of Ferndale and Bubble and Bark, a pet grooming salon scheduled to open in August in Ferndale.
Dogs can get a scrubbing for $15 and an $8 nail clipping.
For more information about the dog wash, call Kathy Watterson at (248) 414-5363 or Brianne A. Moore at (248) 545-1435.
