Creep of the Week: Georgia Fuller

Pop Quiz: What do you call it when a transgender candidate wins a City Council election in Riverdale, Georgia?
Answer: Fraud.
At least that is what you call it if you're the losing candidate.
Georgia Fuller, who came in third place and, thus, will not be a contender in the Dec. 4 runoff election, has filed suit claiming that Michelle Bruce, Georgia's first transgender politician, misled voters by running as a female.
After all, Fuller alleges, if voters had known Bruce was a tranny, they'd never have voted for her. In fact, Fuller's attorney, in a bizarre logical leap, claims that by running as a woman, Bruce was able to curry unfair favor with Riverdale voters.
"It gives her an unfair advantage," attorney Michael King told the Associated Press. "It's not just sour grapes. The people need to know whether the election is fair."
Yes, as everyone knows, white males have it rough, especially in Georgia where they are woefully underrepresented in politics. If only Bruce had run as a black woman in a wheelchair, then her election would have been assured.
I'll be honest. I wouldn't put my money on a transgender candidate in Georgia. I'm not saying Fuller's lawsuit has merit, but I'd be lying if I didn't wonder whether or not the people of Riverdale would knowingly vote for a transgender candidate. I'm a bit too cynical about humankind.
Except Bruce is no newcomer to the Riverdale political scene. She's an incumbent.
According to the AP,"Bruce, 46, who runs an auto repossession business, launched her political campaign in 2003. Running unopposed, she landed one of four council seats and pledged to attract more jobs and residents to Riverdale, a gritty town of 12,000 about 12 miles south of Atlanta, lined with rundown strip malls and used car shops."
In other words, the people of Riverdale have had plenty of time to get to know her and clearly think she's doing a fine job, which really blows a hole in King's claim that this suit isn't about "sour grapes."
"I'm Michelle. I'm the same Michelle they elected four years ago," Bruce told the AP.
"They're just distracting the voters from the issues. Everybody in my district knows me, everyone in Riverdale knows me," Bruce said. "I've done a real good job representing the people. I am for the people."
According to Bruce, she's always identified as transgender. "I've always been Michelle," she said. "If someone has a problem with that, I can't help them. It's a personal issue."
And so is what's between her legs. Now that Fuller's suit has put her in the spotlight the media has had no trouble asking her.
"That's private," she has said. "The people don't care about it."
Well, some people do. Like Fuller, who identifies Bruce as "Michael Bruce" in her suit and wants the November election results thrown out and another general election ordered.
But Fuller isn't who Bruce cares about.
"People want a candidate that will listen to them, protect them, save them money and be there for them," she said. "And I always will be."
