CVS pharmacy blasted for treatment of minorities

DETROIT –
The NAACP of Detroit will join clergy and health care advocates in a demonstration outside a CVS pharmacy at 2590 West Grand Blvd. on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. as part of a nationwide reaction to the findings of a 14-month investigation into CVS. The report is due to be released at the event. Demonstrations will also be held in New York, Los Angeles, Boston and Philadelphia simultaneously.
The organizers say the investigation analyzes key measures of equal and fair access to CVS's services and provides evidence of questionable product quality, overcharging, lax privacy protection and consumer safety issues at the stores. The study, titled "Cure CVS: From high prices to low quality, CVS is failing our communities," will be available at http://www.CureCVSNow.org on Dec.4.
CVS is the nation's largest drug chain, operating more than 200 stores in the Detroit area and 6,800 stores nationwide. With annual revenue of more than $76 billion, CVS fills or manages more than 1 billion prescriptions each year and is America's largest source of prescription drugs.
