Michigan Pride holds second annual brunch

LANSING – Shop, socialize and support Michigan Pride, the nonprofit organization that puts on the slew of Lansing-based events each summer under the same name. The group is hosting its second annual Pride Brunch and Silent Auction at 12-3:30 p.m. April 18 at the Downtown Lansing Radisson Hotel. The hotel is located at 111 N. Grand Ave., Lansing.
The Pride Brunch is just one in a series of events being held in the Lansing area to raise awareness about the LGBT community and to support Michigan Pride. It is one of the largest fundraisers for the group.

"Michigan Pride has hosted a statewide family-friendly festival for 21 years in Lansing and this year's event in Old Town promises to be one of the best events yet," said Outreach Director of Michigan Pride and local small businesswoman Monique Goch. "Last year's brunch's success laid a strong foundation and we are looking forward to a fantastic event in 2010."
Goch is also a board member of Michigan Equality/Triangle Foundation and Suits and the City.
The brunch will feature a delicious spread, drink specials, entertainment, a silent auction, raffles and motivational speakers.
Some items to be auctioned are hand-knitted scarves by Grammy Loves Me in Powder Springs, Ga.; hotel packages from the Radisson, Armada Inn and Wolf Creek Lodge; artwork from Roxanne Firth, recent recipient of the 2010 Top of the Town Awards; relaxation and pedicure package from Bonilla's Salon, Cindy Lauper Tickets for the July MotorCity Casino Concert and much more.
Several local politicians and media big-names are expected to attend the brunch as well. They include 97.5's Amber "Alabama" Cole, Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope, Ingham County Commissioner Brian McGrain, Doug Meeks, board member of Michigan Equality/Triangle Foundation and Rina Risper of The New Citizens Press and One Love Global.
"We're so grateful for the ongoing support of local businesses and community groups," added Goch. "They make the Pride Brunch and Michigan Pride possible."
Tickets for the brunch are $25 for adults and $13 for children. To purchase tickets, visit http://www.michiganpride.org.
