Want to have an extra-cool pride experience? Affirmations has launched a mobile campaign in conjunction with Motor City Pride, which will give participants a "fun, top-secret, Pride-related" experience, said Special Events Manager Carrie Copeland.
People can join the "mobile community" by texting GOAFF to 27138. They'll receive periodic updates about Affirmations. Also, community members are encouraged to report whether or not they're attending Motor City Pride by texting prideyes, prideno, or pridemaybe to 27138.
Then, on June 6, Affirmations will start their mobile giving campaign. Similar to the Haitian earthquake relief, those interested in an easy way to donate can text AFF to 85944, which will pledge $5 to support Affirmations' programs and services. The amount pledged will be charged to the user's mobile telephone bill.
"Aff staff and volunteers will be wearing T-shirts during Motor City Pride to announce the mobile giving campaign, circulating throughout the crowd to encourage our friends and supporters to give," Copeland added. "Our hope is that this campaign will become viral as people text, Tweet and post on Facebook about this exciting way to support their community center."
