Letter: Rosen does not deserve BTL endorsement

I am amazed that BTL endorsed Republican Ken Rosen in his bid to replace Marie Donigan in the State House District 26 (Royal Oak/Madison Heights). Rosen's only qualification is that he happens to be gay.
I too have been an out and proud gay activist since 1973, and am very involved in this year's election cycle. I happen to know that Rosen's supporters sent out at least three negative mailings against the Democratic candidate Jim Townsend in the past several weeks, using race baiting as part of their tactics. These mailing were unprovoked by the Democratic party or Townsend's campaign supporters. Mr. Rosen does not deserve any support from the LGBT community, as his campaign is based on attacking the Democratic candidate without offering any solutions to what he will do should God-forbid he get elected.
I am working very hard to let voters know that Rosen does not represent what is decent in our gay community nor is he an honest person in the way he is running his bid to elected office. Jim Townsend will best represent our community and has been fully endorsed by his predecessor and many leaders in our LGBT family.

Sincerely,
Thomas R. Zerafa MM
Oak Park, MI

Editor's Note: BTL co-endorsed in this race.
