Bryan Fisher Blames Lesbian Attorney For Perry's Indictment

BTL Staff

TEXAS – Anti-gay activist and radio host Bryan Fisher has claimed that District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg is responsible for Gov. Rick Perry's grand jury indictment.

Fisher tweeted incorrectly that Lehmberg indicted Perry, suggesting that because she was a lesbian, she was guilty of abuse of power.

Perry is charged with abusing his office and trying to coerce an elected official. Perry decided to veto a $7.5 million in funding for anti-corruption unit that is part of the Travis County district attorney's office. Perry requested Lehmberg to step down from office after a 2013 drunk-driving arrest. After she declined, Perry made good on this threat to withhold the money.

"I stood up for the rule of law in the state of Texas, and if I had to do it again, I would make exactly the same decision," Perry said on "Fox News Sunday."

Perry has recently compared homosexuality to alcoholism

"In June, Perry had said: "I may have the genetic coding that I'm inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way."
