DETROIT – Between The Lines has launched a contest to win a fantastic Fun Home theater package that includes a crowd funding campaign to benefit the Ruth Ellis Center, the Detroit-based youth social services agency with a mission to provide short-term and long-term residential safe space and support services for runaway, homeless, and at-risk LGBTQ youth.
Contestants can enter the contest by making an online donation to REC of any amount at https://www.gofundme.com/FunHomeforREC for a chance to win a FUN HOME theatre package that includes a gourmet dinner for two at Cuisine, great Fisher Theatre tickets for the Nov. 30 performance of FUN HOME, and a luxurious, romantic night's stay at The Inn on Ferry Street.
Ruth Ellis Center serves the most vulnerable among us – homeless LGBT youth in Detroit. REC provides housing, counseling, support, educational assistance, medical care, love and attention to these young people who desperately need our help. Donation will go towards improving the lives and raising the hopes of our LGBT at-risk youth.
Fun Home is a musical adapted by Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori from Alison Bechdel's 2006 graphic memoir of the same name. The story concerns Bechdel's relationship with her gay father and her attempts to unlock the mysteries surrounding his life. It is the first Broadway musical with a lesbian protagonist. Fun Home swept the 2015 Tony Awards, winning 5 awards including Best Musical.
