On Thursday, the Affirmations LGBTQ+ community center in Ferndale completed the first of two free, COVID-19 vaccination days. Available by appointment at the center, the next event will be held on Thursday, May 27, allowing community members to get vaccinated in a “safe and affirming environment.”

We’d like to take the time to thank our wonderful Community Partners from Public Health Oakland and the City of Ferndale…

Affirmations Executive Director Dave Garcia applauded the efforts of the partners that made the event happen.

“Vaccination day at Affirmations went well and, thanks to the staff, Oakland County Health Department and the City of Ferndale, we were able to vaccinate around 50 people,” Garcia said. “We hope to add more vaccination dates soon and are currently looking at ways to better educate and encourage the LGBTQ+ community on the importance of getting vaccinated.”
