‘Britain's Got Talent’ Star, Local Drag Legends Join 2024 Motor City Pride Lineup
Let the countdown begin. Now that Motor City Pride has announced its annual music lineup, the 2024 Pride in Michigan Season is officially underway.
The largest annual Pride fest in Michigan, Motor City Pride, set for June 8-9, has been held annually since 1972, drawing tens of thousands of people to downtown Detroit’s Hart Plaza for a sprawling event with fun for all ages. You’ll find live music, drag performances and other entertainment across three stages, plentiful food and drink options, and lots of family- and pet-friendly amenities.
Headliner Loren Allred, an ally, will hit the Pride Stage on Saturday, June 8 at 6 p.m. Allred is best known for the soaring, soulful “Never Enough,” featured in “The Greatest Showman” — a live performance of the track earned Allred a Golden Buzzer on “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2022. Allred told LadyGunn in 2021 that her biggest fans are part of the LGBTQ+ community. “They are just the sweetest fans,” she said. “I feel like I really connect with them on a level that I can’t connect with other people, and I just try to give back as much as I can.”
Genderfluid headliner, Kyle Dion, will take to the Pride Stage on Sunday. Dion is sure to bring unique, powerful energy to the stage. His song “I Could Be Your Girlfriend” embodies his true spirit, he told Very Good Light in 2021. “It’s speaking on gender fluidity,” he told the outlet. “What the standard of genders are meant to portray in society, what we should wear, how we should act and that the way or what we wear defines our sexuality in a sense, and that’s not true.”
Other Pride Stage performers include PRISM Chorus, Candi Carpenter and a drag show featuring JAX. Detroit’s legendary drag queen Sabin will perform multiple times throughout the weekend and emcee the Pride Stage.
While the Pride Stage features headliners and bigger names (don’t miss Michigan’s own PRISM Chorus, Candi Carpenter, a drag show featuring JAX and Detroit’s legendary drag queen Sabin, who will emcee and perform multiple times over the weekend), you’ll find plenty of worthwhile entertainment on Motor City Pride’s three other stages, as well.
- On the Riverfront Dance Stage, which showcases DJ artistry and drag artists like Kass, be sure to catch local DJ RAEDY LEX, Hotwaxx and Rimarkable.
- The Motor City Pride Festival Stage pumps out music you can groove to. On Saturday, don’t miss Sing Out, Flamy Grant, Anthony Fink, Erik Miller, Multimagic, Thaylane, Anna Tomaszewski and Marissa Conniff.
- Motor City Pride’s Pyramid Stage features up-and-coming acts. Saturday’s line-up includes Shaun Savage, 666chainz, Taylor Hughes, Corey Tawiler, Xavier Toscano and Arpita Singh.
Motor City Pride will be held at Hart Plaza on June 8, 1-9 p.m. and June 9, 12:30–7 p.m. The parade, set for June 9, kicks off at 12 p.m. at Fort & Griswold, and ends at Hart Plaza. Learn more at motorcitypride.org.
