Between The Lines' portrayal of the trans-womyn's purchase of a ticket to the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival as "moving the debate forward" sounded much more like business as usual. So MWMF will take our money but still not admit us to the festival? This is progress!?? This isn't moving forward, this is a shameful way for the MWMF organizers to make money off of the people they refuse to acknowledge as womyn.
Lorrraine was asked to "respect the spirit of the womyn-born-womyn policy." In case people have forgotten, the spirit of this policy is discrimination. I fail to see how discrimination deserves respect.
The policy of MWMF toward trans-womyn is not a debate to moved forward, it is discrimination that needs to end. The organizers of MWMF need to realize that trans-womyn ARE womyn-born-womyn. We have been womyn all our lives regardless of the body we have been born into. Identity is what matters, not biology!
