White heads to Affirmations

HIV/AIDS activist Jeanne White Ginder is in the midst of a national tour of public speaking engagements and is making a stop at Affirmations community center in Ferndale. White Ginder will be speaking at the center on June 12 at 6 p.m.
White Ginder is the mother of Ryan White, who was diagnosed with the HIV virus in the 1984 and passed away in 1990 from the disease. White contracted the virus from a blood transfusion and, after being diagnosed, was expelled from his school. Since then, the White Ginder family has dedicated their lives to promoting education and funding for HIV/AIDS, plus care for those in need.
As such, White Ginder is coming to speak about the renewal of the Ryan White CARE Act, which is set to expire in September of this year. She hopes to drum up support for the act's renewal.
