Dear BTL,
I love Detroit. I have volunteered my services to the improvement of the Detroit area communities by being involved in block clubs and community councils and working as a volunteer at the local area neighborhood city hall. Plus, I have attended the National Center for Neighborhoods Enterprise in Washington, D.C., by scholarship with the Kellogg Foundation.
When I hear people talk about voting for representatives on city council of Detroit by districts, I think of cities like Washington, D.C. where the affluent districts seem to get better services and more attention under such conditions. Keep the at large vote in place.
I am opposed to electing any city council person to represent a specific section of the city, by district for city council. I do not support any such measures. I believe that Sharon and Benny as Candidates for Mayor and Deputy Mayor have a plan and program to increase city residents and reduce the current tax burden on residents of Detroit.
Stabilizing a neighborhood takes all concerned to get involved and become active and not pass the buck or rely on establishing districts to resolve the problems of individual neighbors.
