Three years after Barnes & Noble's Royal Oak store closed, the city's downtown is getting a new book shop, according to a Crain's Detroit Business report. Used-book seller Paper Trail Books opens Aug. 30 at 414 S. Washington Ave.
Brothers Dave and Scott Brown, who grew up in Troy, will open the shop in an almost 2,000-square-foot space between Cafe Muse and Lily's Seafood.
Sean Kammer, manager of Royal Oak's Downtown Development Authority, said in a release Aug. 24 the opening of Paper Trail Books is good news for a downtown known for its boutique retail and trendy shops.
According to the report, the store – which plans to keep its inventory "fresh" – will buy books from the public and most books will be sold for about half the publisher's price.
