DJs to the Rescue

In order to help with selecting wedding music – which should be the most fun part of planning, but is often times the most overwhelming – BTL asked a couple experts, Chris Blanchard (aka DJ Loki) and Walter Cooper (aka DJ Romeo), to weigh in. As the owner of Rockstar Weddings with Diallo Spigner, Blanchard has been bringing his love of music from the clubs and bars of Metro Detroit to weddings and corporate events since the early 2000s.
"This is the year for jubilant self (couple) expression. This only happens once and couples should throw the celebration they want. It's their day, and although we compromise everyday in life … the wedding day is the only day they don't have to. Get creative with the theme and let the pros do the rest," said Blanchard.
Cooper started his career in the LGBTQ community as a lip sync performer named Romeo Milliown. He is now the resident DJ on Friday nights with DJ Ray at Inuendo in Detroit. Cooper owns OneFour3 Entertainment with his fiance and photographer, Gerald Terrell. They created this entertainment group in October 2015 to offer DJ, talent and photography services.
"I'm the kind of DJ that listens to and plays all kinds of music. When I say that I mean everything from country to rock. I love to play with many different genres. My strength is hip hop and R&B," said Cooper.
Both DJs shared their picks for various song categories many people stress about when planning for the big day. Here's a little wedding playlist help from them below.
