New program helps HIV patients stay on track with medications

By BTL Staff

TROY – GabeCare DirectRx, a pharmaceutical and medical supplies company serving people with chronic illnesses, has introduced a free adherence program designed to help HIV positive patients increase their medication adherence and quality of life. The program is available free via UPS.
The program pre-packages pills into morning, noon, and evening doses for each day of the month. Each individual packet includes the patient's name, name of the medications, and administration time. Company staff is available to answer patient questions.
The company's staff acts to facilitate communication between doctors and their patients, staying in touch with physicians about refills and medication updates and with patients to help them with any medication issues.
GabeCare DirectRx has a specialty HIV pharmacist on staff for medication questions and presentations regarding adherence, resistance, and other HIV issues.
The company is also in the process of beginning support groups focusing on adherence and other HIV related issues.
