PLYMOUTH – This holiday season, give the gift of time – to yourself or someone you love.
“I think that people may not necessarily have the time to get away on a vacation but they do have the time to take either a day or a few hours out of their schedule to spend some time on themselves,” said Spa Julianna owner Julie Van Ameyde.
Besides, in a holiday season laden with things, a spa gift certificate is something unique.
“The reality is we all have enough stuff, but it’s wonderful to have an experience,” Van Ameyde said.
In addition, rather than just giving your friend or loved one that experience and sending them off to the spa by themselves, consider giving yourself and them the gift of your presence at the spa as well.
“It’s always nice to go with somebody to share the experience,” Van Ameyde said. “It’s an opportunity to be together, and reconnect.”
Visitors to Spa Julianna have multiple opportunities to share that experience, from traditional spa services like massage, facials and nail care to Yoga and personal training.
“We’d always thought we’d do Yoga because it’s relaxing – we focus on relaxation, breathing and meditation – it’s a perfect fit for the spa,” Van Ameyde said. Classes are small, generally eight people, which means, “You get one-on-one time with the Yoga instructor, and I find that you just don’t get that anywhere else.”
Through the month of December, you can treat yourself and a loved one to a spa experience and save money as well. Through December, bring a friend or loved one and receive 10 percent off of your spa services when you both receive multiple full services.

Good for the individual, good for the community

In addition to helping individuals relax and re-connect, Spa Julianna is committed to the larger community. 2005 charity recipients include AIDS Partnership Michigan, The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the U.S. Marines’ Toys for Tots Foundation, and the Grace Center of Hope, a Pontiac shelter for children and women who are escaping abusive homes. Spa Julianna will have a toy collection box for Toys for Tots through mid-December, so remember to bring a new toy to donate when you come in for your visit or to purchase a gift certificate.
